Lincoln Academy, an historic Town Academy serving the Newcastle/Damariscotta region of mid-Coast Maine since 1801, is seeking a Director of Admission to begin August 1, 2018. The Director of Admission at Lincoln Academy has primary responsibility for recruiting approximately 30-40 mission-appropriate, engaged, and receptive boarding students each year through the development of relationships with boarding families, sending schools, agents, and consultants world-wide. S/he stewards prospective applicants and their families through the application and admission process and works closely with academic and residential life staff to ensure that boarding students are integrated well into the LA community and that these students have a positive and productive experience in the school. An integral member of the external relations team, which sets and pursues school-wide strategies around enrollment, marketing, and fundraising, the Director of Admission shares responsibility with other members of the team for developing long-term enrollment and marketing goals using data-driven market analysis. The position offers the right candidate a unique combination of autonomy and an opportunity to shape the future of the boarding program by working collaboratively and creatively with a dedicated team of professionals.
Job qualifications include a minimum of a Bachelors’ degree and 3-5 years’ experience in secondary school or college admission, preferably international admission; a high level of cultural competency; willingness and ability to travel broadly and for extended periods of time; up to date knowledge of admission best practices as well as domestic and global market trends; strong computer skills; a strong customer service orientation and outgoing personality; and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both writing and speaking.
