Bachelor's degree in Education, Hawaiian language or other area related to Hawaiian Studies, English, writing and/or publishing.
Summary of Minimum Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of post-secondary Hawaiian language training (or demonstrated fluency in written and oral communication in 'olelo Hawai'i).
Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, or a demonstrated familiarity with educational settings and a clear understanding of sound pedagogical practices.
Experience in working with, or other association with, educational entities focused on Hawaiian culture-based education.
Knowledge of and experience with designing and assessing standards based curriculum and the integration of culture and curriculum (e.g., lessons, units).
Summary of Duties:
Leads the acquisition and development of published materials that support effective Hawaiian cultural-based education, sustained cultural vibrancy, and overall Hawaiian well-being.
Facilitates design processes and editorial workflows that leverage and/or create high quality, culturally rich content for use in formal and informal educational settings by a variety of target audiences.
Collaborates with fellow Kamehameha Publishing staff and other internal and external stakeholders and vendors as needed to support production and distribution of published resources in print and digital media.
Works closely with Publishing Director, Managing Editor and other Kealaiwikuamoo colleagues to cultivate relationships with content providers (e.g., authors, artists, curriculum developers) and community partners (e.g., Kanaeokana schools, DOE, university partnerships and professional organizations).
