Tandem Friends School, a co-ed, Quaker, 5th-12th grade independent day school in Charlottesville, Virginia, seeks an experienced, part-time Upper School Math teacher for the 2018-19 school year. The position teaches two sections of upper school math, likely geometry. Tandem Friends School uses a rotating schedule; classes meet at different times on different days throughout the year.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the developmental needs of adolescents and is both capable of and comfortable with teaching students of a wide range of age, maturity, and ability levels. Experience with student-centered teaching and learning practices is a plus. Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in mathematics, computer science, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
