The Assistant Director of the Exeter Fund works with the Exeter Fund team and assigned alumni/ae classes to grow and maintain the strength of the Exeter Fund through effective planning, creative program development, and proactive volunteer management. Success will be measured by the results in attaining specific financial and relational goals established by the Director of the Exeter Fund.
Fundraising and Development Leadership:
Identify, recruit, manage, guide and motivate alumni/ae volunteer leaders.
Develop strategies for giving and increasing participation 50% or higher.
Plan and implement giving campaigns including coordinating major gift solicitations with members of the Major Gifts staff.
Find innovative ways to communicate with volunteers and alumni/ae through social networking sites, such as Facebook, You Tube, Twitter, mobile giving, etc.
Acknowledge gifts to the Exeter Fund and all miscellaneous Exeter Fund correspondence for assigned alumni/ae.
Assist with the planning and staffing of Exeter Leadership Weekend and reunion weekends as assigned.
Work collaboratively with administrators and other departments within Institutional Advancement.
Attend events (as needed) both on and off campus.
Participate in planning meetings, accepting special assignments, assisting colleagues and providing support for all ongoing programs and operations as needed.
Strategic and Administrative:
Develops strategies for giving and increasing participation of alumni to 50% or higher.
Assists with the planning and staffing of Exeter Leadership Weekend and reunion weekends as assigned.
Utilizes AgentSphere, an online tool for volunteer fundraisers.
Works collaboratively with administrators and other departments within Institutional Advancement.
Participates in planning meetings, accepting special assignments, assisting colleagues and providing support for all ongoing programs and operations as needed.
Provides support for the volunteers of reunion/non-reunion classes, including the coordination of all solicitations.
Shares responsibility for acknowledging gifts to the Exeter Fund and all miscellaneous Exeter Fund correspondence.
Ability to request and analyze data to make strategic, programmatic decisions to increase retention and giving.
Assists with the preparation of periodic reports, including the year-end Report of Giving.
Assists with the supervision of office personnel and files.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field required.
3+ years’ direct annual giving fund-raising experience in a college or private secondary school development office preferred.
Experience working with a volunteer-based organization preferred.
Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
A passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality.
Strategic high-level thinking coupled with the attention to detail necessary for successful planning and execution.
Genuinely enjoys interacting with people.
Extensive knowledge and experience with social media and networking and its application for advancement.
Must be detail-oriented.
Ability to prepare and effectively present both oral and written information concerning activities and operations to internal and external constituents.
Knowledge of personnel management, supervision and staff training.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.

A strict adherence to confidential policies is required.
