The Upper School Science Lab Technician will serve as an independent contractor though a Professional Services Contract at The Baldwin School of PR. The Science Lab Technician will work on a Part-time basis (approximately 3 days a week) for the school year commencing on August 1, 2018.
Must provide an official college transcript.
Bachelor's degree (completed, or in progress, with more than half of the credits for the degree completed) in Experimental Science or Science Education preferred.
Ability for and passionate about interacting with Upper School students ranging in grades 9th through 12th grade.
Experience working in a school science laboratory setting.
Must possess complete fluency in English, fluency in Spanish is not required but preferred.
Must possess and demonstrate knowledge and enthusiasm about guiding teachers and students on how to use laboratory facilities in a safe and proper manner.
Possess and demonstrate commitment to the School's Mission, Vision, Pedagogy, professional development goals and overall education goals.
Demonstrate professionalism through timeliness, attendance, proper attire, language, demeanor, intra-school communications, etc.
Comply with all policies stated in the employment handbook.
Ability to work in groups/ team teaching.
The position requires energy, creativity, organization, and a strong commitment to a lively community of students and educators.
Manage the laboratories and ensure that they are fully stocked with the right materials, chemicals and other important materials.
Ensure that the stock room and equipment comply with all safety guidelines.
Set up experiments, keep inventory up-to-date, order materials, coordinate maintenance of laboratory equipment and provide technical support to students and teachers.
Maintain teacher and school's laboratory explosive licenses and ensure that all lab activities are compliant with our health, safety and security regulations.
Assist teachers in the laboratory during class.
Availability for after-school supervision of laboratory experiments.
Meet with students for make-up laboratory experiments.
