Buxton School seeks to hire a full-time French teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. We are looking for a candidate who could teach all levels of French, from level I to level IV. Classes at Buxton are small and immersive, and our teachers are challenged in all the best ways to meet the needs of a diverse student body.
This is an on-campus dorm position: we are looking for a candidate to live in our primary boys’ dormitory. Like all members of the Buxton faculty, the successful candidate would be expected to be fully engaged in the life of the school and of the students. Faculty members advise students, run activities and/or coach sports, take turns doing bed-check, supervise study halls, attend meals, and participate in all aspects of boarding school life.
Buxton is a small, progressive boarding and day high school in the beautiful Berkshire mountains of Western Massachusetts. About to celebrate its 90th year, Buxton has long been a leader in progressive education. We are known for our humane and inspirational education, our spirited and curious student body, our hands-on experiential educational practices, our wide and deep arts program, and our commitment to creating a deeply egalitarian and diverse community of learners and doers. Teaching at Buxton is immersive and rewarding.
Successful candidates will have a strong background in written and spoken French, and will be excited to work with young people during this crucial stage of their lives. This position includes a private apartment, excellent (free) food, a generous benefits package, and the opportunity to change lives at a unique school.
Buxton welcomes candidates of all backgrounds. Please send your resume and letter of interest to Franny Shuker-Haines, director of Buxton, at Franny@BuxtonSchool.org.
