The Waldorf School of Lexington (WSL) seeks two part-time Aftercare Assistants. These are part-time, hourly, non-benefitted positions, from 11:30–3:30 p.m. three or five days a week (12 or 20 hours per week) throughout the school year. Pay scale $15-$21 per hour.
Assistants work under the supervision of the Lead Teacher to create a home-like environment for nursery and kindergarten students enrolled in our Aftercare program. Children enjoy outdoor play, followed by lunch and a story/rest time. Assistants will be familiar with, or willing to learn about and work in accordance with, the Waldorf perspective of child development. Waldorf teacher training and/or experience is preferred.
Assist and support the Lead Teacher with all afternoon activities (play, lunch, nap/rest, projects, dismissal, etc.)
Provide room set-up, clean-up, and general maintenance such as washing dishes, vacuuming, and sweeping
Meet with the Lead Teacher for planning and review as needed
Provide leadership for the group as a substitute if the Lead Teacher is absent
Refer any serious infractions or injuries to the Lead Teacher
Refer any parental questions or concerns to the Lead Teacher
Work and attend mandatory meetings during the last week in August
