Position Summary. The Academic Dean is an instructional leader responsible for contributing to and communicating an instructional vision for an all girl’s education with a focused plan for improving student achievement; supporting teachers in improving their instructional practice; creating a community of continuous learning for all staff and students; and fostering a culture of high expectations for all students. Essential Duties and responsibilities
Maintain consistency between the mission statement and all academic activities.
Ensure horizontal and vertical alignment of the curriculum K-12.
Coordinate alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with faculty.
Coordinate curriculum resources, including managing instructional materials with department chairs.
To create and maintain the master schedule
Manage daily operation of academic operations:
To act as the educational leader of the school, responsible for its day to day operation: scheduling of students, overseeing of the academic advising and college counseling programs; monitoring students academic progress and coordinating department chairs.
To observe, supervise, and help evaluate the faculty in the development and implementation of the curriculum; to supervise the teaching process, and to review and assess the academic programs.
To prepare a master schedule and to assign teachers and students to classes and other obligations.
To conduct regular meetings with department chairs stimulating an exchange of ideas on educational/philosophical interest and concern.
To make recommendations to the principal regarding hiring and retention, and the assignment of the faculty.
To establish programs for the orientation of new teachers, for in-service training of all teachers.
Oversee the grading and reporting of standards and methods used by teachers in measuring student achievement.
To support the school and its leadership.
To perform other duties assigned by the principal.
To assist in the admission process for the testing, to interview, and to evaluate of applicants for enrollment.
Work with counselors in maintaining the course catalog.
Coordinate and oversee alternative courses as needed ( i.e., virtual schools)
Inspire innovation among school community.

Masters degree in educational administration/curriculum or a related field
Educational professional with at least five years experience in teaching or administration.
Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal), Analyze, differentiate, coordinate, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control. High-level computer skills especially in developing a master schedule. Ability to work with many different people in a respectful, thoughtful, considerate manner.
