Upper School Mathematics Faculty Seattle, WA
Full-time – Salary scale based on experience
The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Upper School Mathematics and Computer Science Department team to teach Mathematics. We are looking for a candidate who can support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that displays and proves an understanding of cultural fluency. A qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks as listed below:
Create and sustain classroom culture based on mission and values of the school
Collaborate and work constructively with colleagues
Prepare and deliver effective mathematics instruction for ninth through twelfth grade students in a schedule that meets for two one hour and thirty minute periods and one forty-minute period each week
Contribute to a progressive education environment where students are encouraged to learn by doing
Develop a responsive, student-centered classroom community that fosters engagement, inquiry, risk-taking, and confidence
Support students in the development of good mathematical habits, content knowledge and skills
Differentiate instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
Collaborate with school counselor to establish and maintain social emotional learning and wellness for all students
Work with learning coordinator to support varying learning styles and needs in the classroom
Create and sustain effective parent/guardian partnerships
Participate in the development of the whole child by guiding ninth through twelfth grade students in advisory, scheduling, academics, and Upper School experience
Participate in and assist in organizing the experiential programs that occur for one week in January and May
Participate productively with colleagues in one Upper school and one K-12 committee
3-5 years mathematics teaching experience
A bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Education
A graduate degree in Mathematics or Education preferred
Personal Qualifications of the Successful Candidate:
Capacity and desire to engage in experiential activities and programs with students
Effective and timely communication skills (verbally and in writing) with administrators, colleagues, staff and families that sustain constructive and professional relationships
Finds joy in promoting a lifelong love of learning and in working with children
