We are seeking a dynamic and warm Learning Specialist, well-practiced in effective student support approaches, as well as in the systems necessary to track, communicate, and document student progress and team conversations. The Learning Specialist will be an active, integrated part of the K-8 team, and will provide direct services to students when needed. In addition to working closely with teachers, this person will monitor the progress of students with identified learning differences, assist in developing learning plans, and implementing accommodations in the classroom. The Learning Specialist educates faculty, parents and students about learning and teaching styles, and strategies. When necessary, the Learning Specialist will make referrals for outside support.

Requirements and Experience
Masters and/or Graduate Certification as a Learning Specialist, Resource, or Educational Therapist
A minimum of three years experience in a school setting, including teaching responsibilities
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Experience in an independent school setting helpful
Love working with students and creating a joyful learning environment
Commitment to professional development and a growth mindset
Hardworking, organized, and reliable
Ability to model professional and ethical standards when working with students and families
Ability to integrate theory with practice while working with students
Knowledge of and experience with intervention approaches for students in K-8

In partnership with the Director of Teaching and Learning, develop, implement, and coordinate a Student Study Team approach at Blue Oak
Fortify teachers' efforts to address different learning styles within the classroom
Support teachers in identifying tools, resources, systems, and techniques to provide an appropriate program for neurodiverse students.
Act as a consultant and provider of professional development and parent education around neurodiversity, executive functioning, and learning difference
Teach individual and small groups of students to provide remediation and/or learning support
Track and document student learning needs, accommodations, and related materials and notes
Maintain contact and communication with parents of children with exceptional needs. Provide documentation and evidence of learning and academic endeavor to these families.
