Milwaukee Montessori School, a private, independent day school with 400 students aged 18 months through 8th grade is currently looking for a Montessori Assistant Teacher for children ages 3 to 6 years. Hours are 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Full-time options are available provided the applicant's willingness to be flexible and work throughout the school as needed in the afternoon. We will consider immediate hire to provide time for orientation and procedural training before the academic year begins. This position is a perfect opportunity for an aspiring teacher with interest in becoming a Montessori Trained teacher.
Assistant teachers work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher in all day-to-day aspects of the classroom: teaching, assisting the unique needs of young children, and organizing classroom materials and spaces as instructed. Additional involvement such as curricular planning is not required but is possible if the Lead Teacher welcomes such participation or deems it appropriate. Lunch and recess duties are performed daily, in addition to morning drop-off or dismissal procedures.
