The Apprentice Teacher positions are for candidates eager to participate in and learn through the development of a new academic program. Apprentice teachers help create and support classroom learning and school culture. Bennett Day School is looking for educators new to the profession who are deeply invested in a collaborative work environment where they will participate actively in the teaching and learning process with students. Apprentice Teachers at Bennett Day School are also responsible for the integration of technology in the classroom as a powerful tool for student learning and documenting the process. They will work in close collaboration with the lead and specialist teachers to develop and support best practices with technology and materials as it relates to the learning process. Apprentice Teachers should understand that teaching is dynamic and will work in tandem with the lead teacher to adapt and integrate this belief in the daily work in the classroom and school community.
Experience in early childhood classrooms
Collaborative mindset; adept at working with teams and open to new ideas
Experience with technology use and applications
Education Background: a Bachelor’s degree is required; early childhood coursework preferred
Physical strength to independently lift 10-15 lbs
Fluency in written and oral English language.
Ability to oversee and ensure the safety of children in and out of the classroom
Full time, salaried - exempt position
Direct classroom work with children ages 3 to 5 years old
Work collaboratively with lead teacher in all aspects of classroom life
Teaching responsibilities include Earth Science
Supervision responsibilities: family-style lunch, recess and gross motor play, MorningCare and car queue
Model positive behavior and support classroom management procedures
Engage in professional development, training, workshops and/or classes
Individual student and group work documentation
Friday afternoon professional development and Tuesday afternoon faculty meetings
Participation in self-evaluation and reflection process
Collaborative role in learning and supporting technology and material integration
Support the process of documentation, including digital portfolios, and website management
Hours: 7:30a-4:00p T/TH/F; 7:30a-5:00p M/W (Faculty meetings and Professional Development
Attend summer and school year PD, including New Faculty Orientation August 9-10, Faculty PD Aug 13-24, end of year PD dates, and on and off campus PD.
