St. John’s Prep is an inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School for young men in grades 6 through 12. Founded on the Xaverian values of compassion, humility, simplicity, trust and zeal, we educate students to be, do and stand for good in the world. We enroll 1,500 students from more than 60 communities.
The Library Paraprofessional performs tasks in areas of library materials acquisition, file and record maintenance, circulation, assists students and staff. The position reports to Assistant Principal for Academics for Grades 11 and 12. All members of the faculty and staff are expected to give witness to the mission of St. John’s, as well as to our identity as an inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School.
Provide general assistance to students and staff.
Sort and shelve books.
Maintain shelves and files.
Inventory all materials.
Take morning attendance.
Inspect new materials and conserves materials.
Monitor and maintain instructional materials on reserve.
Work with teachers to support curriculum units of study at each grade level.
Maintain a positive climate conducive to learning.
Interact with and responds to the needs of students.
Assume other related responsibilities as requested by the Librarian or Assistant Principal.
High school diploma; associate’s degree preferred
Willingness to support the mission and vision of St. John’s Prep.
The ideal candidate will be joyful, welcoming, organized, able to prioritize tasks, and work effectively with all members of the St. John’s Prep community.
Familiarity with library management systems and Google Apps for Education (Gmail and Google Docs).
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3 pm, beginning August 27, 2018,
and ending June 12, 2019, with the exception of school holidays and vacations.
