Lick-Wilmerding High School seeks a part-time Athletics Associate to provide administrative support to the overall operations of the Athletics Department. The Athletics Associate will assist in new coach hiring, as well as planning and coordinating department events. This role will work with the Athletics Director and Assistant Athletics Director to ensure equity, inclusion, and engagement of students from all walks of life in the athletics program and culture.
The LWHS Athletics Program:
Provides opportunities for students to participate in a wide variety of sports throughout the school year.
Assists participants in the development of required physical and sport-specific skills.
Fosters the development of character, social skills, game ethics, and sportsmanship.
Compliments lessons learned in the classroom and encourages cooperation, teamwork, discipline, and hard work.
Assist in the process of new coach hiring, onboarding, payroll, and ensure completion
Assist the Assistant Athletic Director with management of girls athletic team operations
Assist in maintaining Athletics Department staff files for current year employees
Verify annual trainings and coaching certifications are up to date for new and returning coaches
Ensure new coaches have compliance of necessary coaching certifications and training in the school’s safety and health programs
Distribute and review coaches’ handbook
Be a supportive presence and resource for student athletes
Create a welcoming environment in the Athletics Department
Work with the Institutional Researcher and Athletics Director to ensure distribution and collection of Student Athlete Experience Surveys at the end of each season
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor’s degree and at least two years work experience
High energy individual who thrives in a busy environment
Experience coaching high school athletes
High degree of integrity and dedication to the mission of Lick-Wilmerding High School
Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to students, parents, faculty, staff, and others
Attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects at once
Outstanding interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team to achieve goals
Personal qualities of flexibility, humor and a growth mindset desired
Some evening/weekend work required
Have or are willing to get: First Aid and CPR Certification, Concussion Training, Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
