The primary purpose of this position is to Support Upper School students’ Socio-Emotional Development through leading one (1) section of 9th grade Connections, in the Life Skills Department.
Essential job functions include:
Prospective teacher will lead 1 section of 9th gr Connections, utilizing (in part) the text S.E.X. by Heather Corinna.
The curriculum for this course includes reproductive anatomy, pregnancy prevention, STI prevention, healthy relationships, drug and alcohol education, mental and emotional healthcare, social justice, and other important topics as they are introduced by the students and the department.
Candidate will work closely with a department of 10 - 14 other Life Skills faculty in the Middle and Upper School.
This position would start in late August.
Ability to facilitate the Council Process with a variety of constituents and topics
Additional Job functions:
Attendance at all department meetings and mandatory school events (such a Upper School Parent Day)
Daily checking of email and effective communication with students, faculty, administration, and families is required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Years of Experience: Significant demonstrated experience working with adolescents required
Specific Skills: Basic Email and Word Processing
Licenses or Certifications: Completion of a Council Training, Level 1 during or before the end of the first year of employment
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to model appropriate boundaries, a general attitude of acceptance and non-judgment, ability to work in an energetic environment, positive disposition, strong communication skills, flexibility, and good humor all help in finding success with this position.
