Dawson, a K-12 independent school of 535 students located east of Boulder, CO on a beautiful 112-acre campus, seeks a Director of Development. The Director of Development will oversee the development department which includes Annual Fund, capital campaign support, event planning, alumni relations, donor cultivation and stewardship, volunteer efforts, corporate/foundation outreach, and related communication materials. The Director of Development will develop and implement strategies, tactics, and metrics in these areas to maximize community support and best facilitate all aspects of the school’s operations and strategic priorities.

Professional and Personal Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
5+ years experience leading annual fund, capital, endowment, and/or similar campaigns
Seeks opportunities to participate in Dawson community events and otherwise support faculty, staff, students, and families
Microsoft Office on Mac and Google Docs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all constituent groups
Personal warmth and friendliness
Model leadership style that exemplifies teamwork and personal responsibility
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Strict confidentiality in all matters
Experience working in a small office setting
Develops and implement strategies to meet annual, restricted, and long-term (capital/endowment) fundraising goals
Oversees the Development Department with two staff members to implement a comprehensive, sustainable development/fundraising program and ensures that the department’s work is professional and consistent with the school’s mission and virtues
Recruits, develops, and retains an exceptional development team
Implements all aspects of the Annual Fund including designing campaign messaging, securing and overseeing volunteers, making presentations to faculty, staff and parents, writing Annual Fund correspondence, holding school-wide phonathons and tracking participation.
Publishes communications to support development, including the Dawson Guide to Giving, all Annual Fund publications, and an annual report that recognizes donors for their contributions
Oversees all donor-related and community events (alumni gatherings, donor cultivation, donor recognition)
Researches and solicits foundation grants and corporate gifts
Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with major donors and meets short and long term fundraising goals
