Germantown Academy, located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the position of Part-Time School Store Assistant, beginning August 2018. This is a 10-month position which offers a highly competitive salary. The Academy, founded in 1759, is a non-sectarian, coeducational, college preparatory school of more than 1,100 students in Grades PK-12, located in the northwest suburbs of Philadelphia on a campus of 126 acres. Position Purpose: Reporting to the School Store Café and Concessions Manager, the Café and Concessions Assistant will assist in the daily operations of the school store and café. They will also run the concession stand on specified dates throughout the school year.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Assist in stocking, cleaning, and organizing the store/café and storage room. 2. Provide friendly and professional customer service when selling supplies and specialty items to all members of the community. 3. Complete daily task list left by School Store Manager. Assist with satellite sales of store merchandise at appropriate venues/events throughout the school year. 4. Provide short-term coverage for the School Store Manager in their absence. 5. Maintain an accurate cash drawer. 6. Ensure stock levels in school store and concession stand; communicate those needs to School Store Manager.
Other Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for appearance and cleanliness of School Store and surrounding space.Establish good working relationship with Pavilion Manager and Housekeeping staff. 2. Create an open, friendly atmosphere that is comfortable and inviting to all members of the GA community and visitors. 3. Some evening and weekend hours required as necessary for special events such as GA/PC day, open house events, concessions for sporting events, etc. 4. Provide assistance in other Auxiliary Programs (SPARK, Child Care, and Summer Programs), and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 1. Strong customer service skills and cash handling experience preferred. 2. Must be able to bend and lift up to 25 lbs. 3. Multi-tasking and organizational skills. 4. Completed background check and clearances upon hire. 5. Flexibility in schedule. 6. Experience working in fast-paced service environment. 7. Must complete Food Safety Certification upon hire.
