Harpeth Hall seeks a dynamic, innovative, and culturally-responsive professional to serve as an interim School Counselor. The ideal candidate will have experience in a school setting, demonstrate classroom teaching skills, possess an enthusiasm and commitment to working with adolescent girls. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have skills in collaborating with teachers and consulting with parents in an academic setting. A masters degree in counseling or related field is required.
This position is an 80% position for the 2018-2019 academic year. Candidates should complete an online application and submit a letter of interest, resume, references, and a statement of educational philosophy.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Teaching Life Balance classes to 8th and 9th grade students
Counseling students individually and in groups in grades 8 and 9
Attending Middle School & Upper School grade level lunch meetings as needed and serving as students’ advocate
Attending Counseling Team and Department Meetings
Communicating and consulting effectively with parents, via individual meetings, grade level parent meetings, and written correspondence
Developing learning opportunities for teachers to understand how to support students in various situations
Participating in counseling professional development each year
Participating in the life of the school through additional activities such as serving as an Advisor to a group of students
