Pingree School seeks to hire a Director of Facilities. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position that reports to the Director of Operations and Finance. The Director of Facilities is responsible for the overall maintenance, cleanliness, security and safety of all buildings and grounds on the 100+ acre campus, consisting of the main school building, athletic center and Weld gymnasium, ice rink, five residential units, various outbuildings and athletic fields including the turf field.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Oversee the physical operation of the entire school; create and oversee the careful maintenance and cleaning programs that keep the school’s appearance in exemplary condition;
Manage the buildings and grounds crew members, including direction, supervision and evaluation of their work;
Monitor maintenance requests (via Schooldude) and assign tasks to crew members as necessary;
Maintain all building-related systems, equipment, machinery, swimming pool, vehicles and waste management;
Develop, maintain and report all required environmental, health and maintenance standards as required by law and to work with the administration to ensure compliance with all regional, state and federal regulations and laws;
Oversee the work of all outside contractors to ensure compliance with contractual agreement and budgetary restrictions;
Maintain grounds for appearance and safety, implementing appropropriate updates and preventative measures;
Prepare budgets and perform other administrative management duties;
Chair the school’s Safety Committee, which meets regularly throughout the year;
Support the school and its leadership.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Scheduling preventative maintenance for all building-related systems, utilities, sewage systems, kitchen and pool equipment, vehicles, waste management, and athletic facilities and equipment;
Overseeing janitorial services for all school buildings including the residence of the head of school;
Landscaping around all buildings and driveways, seasonally appropriate for appearance and safety: i.e., plantings, lawn care, plowing, irrigation, fertilization, signage and lighting;
Proactive involvement in the security and safety of building environments: i.e., OSHA requirements, blood-borne pathogens practices, asbestos, lead and radon gas, wetlands and other environmental issues;
Overseeing the preparation of the athletics facilities and fields for athletic competitions, in connection with the Athletics Department;
Coordinating the preparation of various areas for school functions and outside rentals;
Overseeing the operation of the Johnson Rink, working with the Rink Manager;
Maintaining personnel records on staff performance (in conjunction with Human Resources), accident reports, maintenance schedules, etc.;
Responding to emergency calls;
Occasional evening and weekend work required, as well as work during inclement weather;
Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Operations.

Qualifications and Skills Required for Position:
Bachelor’s degree required;
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in facilities management for a campus setting or related field required;
Prior experience managing others required;
Comprehensive understanding and or background in plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems required;
Preference given to candidates holding master electrician, construction supervisor, and/or pool operator license(s);
Detail-oriented and efficient; strong organizational and technology skills;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Commitment to working collegially in a diverse community and communicating effectively with a diverse population;
Ability to lift 40 pounds, climb ladders, crawl into low spaces, and must be mobile to supervise facilities activity throughout the campus grounds;
Possession of a valid driver’s license;
Successful completion of a criminal background check;
Availability to work some evening and weekend hours, and during inclement weather.
