St. Stephen’s Episcopal School is accepting applications for the newly created position of Director of Human Resources. This position reports to the chief financial officer and will work closely with the senior administrative team and other members of the business office, including the payroll manager.
Develop, recommend and administer human resource policies and procedures for all School personnel.
Counsel the Head of School and other senior administrators on employment practices and procedures.
Keep informed of regulations affecting all aspects of human resources, monitor the School’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance, and recommend changes as needed.
Conduct recruitment efforts for all exempt and non-exempt personnel in coordination with the administrative team; Oversee adherence to EEOC programs and diversity goals set by the School; Work with managers to produce employment ads based on job descriptions; May participate in the screening and interviewing of candidates.
Act as a key advisor on employee relations matters by coaching managers, developing action plans, counseling employees, providing referrals, etc.
Build effective working relationships with staff at all levels, providing counsel and guidance on a broad range of issues, particularly related to workplace culture and productivity. Foster the development of others, facilitate teamwork and cooperation, and aid in the constructive resolution of conflicts.
Oversee and work with supervisors on annual performance evaluation processes.
Maintain annual updates of Employee and Faculty Handbooks and the distribution of such; Oversee the collection of handbook acknowledgements from all employees.
Oversee annual training programs for all current and new employees.
Oversee maintenance of accurate and complete personnel records; Ensure that rules concerning confidentiality and records’ retention are followed.
Professional certificate in Human Resources required
Minimum of five years’ experience as Director of HR – Generalist
Qualified candidates will have extensive knowledge of Texas employment laws and be proficient in Google Apps. Candidates with experience in or the ability to adapt to a nonprofit educational institution will be given consideration.
