In general, the Assistant for After School Activities/Preschool Assistant must set an example for the students, both in conduct and in presentation, in accordance with the rules of the Lycée Français de New York. To account for certain organizational demands, the Assistant for After School Activities/Preschool Assistant must show flexibility in her or his schedule, in order to respond to occasional unexpected circumstances during the day, and if necessary, evening and/or week-end activities (such as meetings, special events, etc.) requiring their presence.
The Assistant for After School Activities/Preschool Assistant main responsibilities are as defined as insuring the students’ safety at all times and enforcing rules and regulations, coordinating with the Director of After School Activities and Director of Preschool.
Team spirit is key, as the Assistant for After School Activities/Preschool Assistant work in a team, with the teachers, the administration, the other assistants and the Director of After School Activities and Director of Preschool.

The Assistant for After School Activities/Preschool Assistant responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
Afterschool Activities duties
Supervising students waiting to go to clubs that begin after dismissal
Help with club's dismissal
Replace in the after care when necessary.
Assist with the management of the afterschool activities and the staff
Assist with the development, structure and revisions of the after-school brochure each semester
Help with communication with the parents, afterschool staff and classroom teachers regarding after-school activities information/updates
Generate the after-school attendance lists to give to classroom teachers and afterschool teachers each semester
Manage the Aftercare and Study Hall flex time accounts
Lunch duties, as a Preschool Assistant:
Helping to supervise classes at lunchtime, making sure children eat in a safe environment.
Report incidents to teachers and directors if needed.
Preparing table settings
Placing beds on the floor
Helping the children in the bathroom
Helping to put the children to sleep
Supervising students during camp: lunch duty.
Assist with summer, fall and spring camp management: class lists, help with schedule transitions, help in communications with teachers and parents.
Help with ordering camp material.
As an Afterschool and Primary Assistant, he/she must report immediately to a director any issue with a student or a parent.
