POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Advancement Director is a member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive institutional advancement program for the Parish and school. With the support of the Pastor & School President, the Advancement Director will implement a multi-level advancement plan that will include capital campaign, major donor, foundation, endowment, special events, and annual fund. The Advancement Director is responsible for strengthening and improving St. Mary’s funding. The Director of Parish Advancement reports to the CAO/CFO, and with the support of the Pastor & School President, the Advancement Director will lead and manage the Advancement team.

Status: Full time, exempt
The Director works with the Pastor, CAO/CFO, and the School President to establish goals and define strategies for the office.
The Director manages staff and sets priorities for the Advancement Office.
The Director will develop and manage a portfolio of prospective donors.
Portfolio management to include proactive, regular contact (phone calls, letters, email, personal visits, visits from volunteers, etc.) to determine their philanthropic priorities and inclination to support St. Mary’s.
Preparation of proposals and solicitations and gift agreements.
Development and implementation of gift strategies.
The Director will ensure appropriate stewardship of donors acknowledging their contributions and encouraging future support.
With the support of the Director of Alumni and Constituent Relations, the Director will develop and manage volunteer advocates to assist in discovery, cultivation, and solicitation of gift opportunities
The Director will ensure prospect data is entered accurately and in a timely manner into the database
The Director will prepare an annual budget and regular financial reports
The Director manages the calendar for fundraising, and oversees policies and procedures for fundraising.

St. Mary's Elementary and High School located in downtown Annapolis, Maryland, serves approximately 1300 students in grades Kindergarten through 12. Our parish is a vibrant faith filled Catholic community, currently serving over 5,000 families in the Annapolis area. The parish is part of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and is administered by the Redemptorist Priests of the Baltimore Province.
The parish has two Mass sites; St. Mary’s Church on Duke of Gloucester Street, and our mission church, St. John Neumann on Bestgate Road. In addition to the two churches, we also have a Catholic Elementary School and High School, a thriving Religious Education program, and over 60 different organizations that minister to all aspects of parish, family and community life.
Bachelor's degree and three to five years of professional advancement experience in major gifts, campaigns or planned giving.
Ability to effectively articulate the values and mission of St Mary’s Parish and School
A strong commitment to and understanding of donor recognition and stewardship.
Ability to maintain clear, accurate records and prepare accurate and timely reports.
Willingness and ability to travel locally.
Understanding of computer and constituent software.
Strong managerial, leadership and supervisory skills.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Proven project management skills.
Highly self-directed with an attention to detail and ability to organize effectively.
