Dream AcadeME is seeking a passionate Program Director who will have the opportunity to manage and create a sustainable learning and work environment for it's blossoming alternative education organization. Dream AcadeME is a non-profit progressive education program founded in social constructivist methods, research, and best practices in education, with inspiration from Reggio Emilia.
The mission of our organization is to support each child's creative, academic, and emotional potential by providing inspired, highly-personalized, and diverse learning experiences. We support homeschool families, micro-schools, and any family seeking educators who know how to teach children to learn how to learn. We currently operate in Los Angeles and our programs are facilitated by extraordinary teachers and an engaged Board of Directors. This opportunity would be ideal for someone who has background in education and/or nonprofits.
Masters or Doctorate Degree in Education or related field with minimum 3 years experience in education, director, or nonprofit setting
Bachelors Degree in Education or related field with minimum 7 years experience in education, director, or nonprofit setting
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively manage and lead a team
Knowledgeable about progressive education, social constructivism, or Reggio Emilia philosophy
Believe in Dream AcadeME’s mission and vision and be able to share this enthusiastically with others
Capable of taking initiative, experimentation, and flexibility
Be invigorated and motivated to create a fun learning and working environment for Dream AcadeME
Experience with curriculum development and designing, socratic method, and project work
Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
Successfully implemented educational programs
Nonprofit management background
Experience at the management level of an education or education-focused organization
Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization
Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the program
Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement
Assess the objectives and needs for the strategic plan and long-term goals as well as any implementation of programs
Develop funding proposals for the program to ensure the continuous delivery of services
Coordinate, manage effective and efficient student recruitment, enrollment, and retention using all resources available including networking
Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization
Be the primary point of contact for program logistics and act as a liaison for parents, teachers, administration, students and staff
Provide regular communication with all stakeholders - Dream AcadeME Administrative staff, Board, Teachers, Parents, Collaborators and Students.
Conduct Site staff meetings as necessary.
Manage email account and online calendar for Dream AcadeME programs
Work closely with Executive Director
Supervise, oversee, and provide day-to-day support to staff including tutors, teachers, and administration
Develop, strengthen and sustain interpersonal relationships with families, potential partners, funders and collaborators
Write reports on the programs for management and for funders
Work with Executive Director and Board to create policies
Implement the policies created
Train new hires
Compensation commensurate with experience and education
Flexible working environment 50% of the time

About Dream AcadeME
Dream AcadeME is an alternative education program focusing on personalized education through micro-schools, homeschools, tutoring, after-school, and summer camp programs. Each Dream AcadeME micro-school, homeschool, and after-school program varies slightly to meet the needs of each family or community. Nonetheless, the essential elements of the Dream AcadeME approach are streamlined and implemented throughout. In addition to focusing on core content areas and learner-centered STEAM activities, a day at Dream AcadeME will include a mindfulness activity, social-emotional skill building lessons, and ample time outdoors to explore and learn in nature.
