Rosarian Academy is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader for its next Principal, beginning immediately for the 2018-2019 school year. Located in beautiful West Palm Beach, Florida , Rosarian Academy is the only independent Catholic school in Palm Beach County. Founded in 1925 by the Adrian Dominican Sisters, its mission is to educate the whole person for life in the light of Gospel values. For over 90 years, Rosarian has been dedicated to providing its students with the foundation to live life filled with faith, knowledge, and service, starting in the Montessori program (up to five years old) and continued through the Lower School (k-4th grade) and Middle School (5th – 8th grade).
Reporting to the Head of School, the Principal will be supportive in the areas of faculty development, curriculum development, and teaching. The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher and successful administrator, preferably in an American-accredited independent school. He/she should demonstrate increasing responsibility and proof of accomplishment in the areas of recruitment and personnel development; curriculum development; teacher/staff evaluation and development; parent and alumni relations; student activities management; and student recruitment. Both an undergraduate and advanced degree is required, as well as a minimum of 2 years experience in administration.
Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not restricted to):
Strives daily to profess the Mission Statement of Rosarian Academy by fostering the school’s philosophy of education, goals, and objectives.
Assists the Head of School in overall administration of the school.
Serves as administrative head of the school in the absence of the Head of School.
Works closely with other members of the administrative team.
Directs the daily operations of the school.
Meets with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral concerns.
Maintains an open-door policy for parents, students, faculty, and staff.
Is a member of the Strategic Planning Committee, SAIS Accreditation Committee, Admissions Committee, Technology Committee, Sports Committee.
Chairs weekly meetings with the faculty.
Assists the Head of School in planning and conducting faculty meetings.
Assists the Head of School in the selection and orientation of new teachers and staff.
Coordinates the formulation of the yearly and monthly school calendars.
Plans the weekly calendar and makes scheduling adjustments for various activities.
Coordinates weekly prayer service.
Supervises various activities (i.e. school lunch, assemblies, liturgies, arrival and dismissal, school dances, etc.).
Works with school teachers and curriculum coordinator on curriculum integration and progression.
Reviews school teachers’ weekly lesson plans.
Plans the master schedule for kindergarten through grade eight along with a scheduling team.
Assigns duties for teachers, i.e., arrival, dismissal, lunch duty, and hallway supervision.
Assists in the evaluation of the school’s academic, co-curricular and extracurricular programs and helps initiate needed improvements.
Observes and evaluates teacher performance.
Advises the Head of School on the evaluation of the teaching staff.
Works with the school directors on the annual revision of the Parent/Student Handbook and the Employee Handbook.
Prepares the schedule for trimester exams.
Plans middle school honors assemblies each trimester.
Oversees the preparation of progress reports and report cards.
Attends all school-wide functions and as many school extra-curricular activities as possible.
Meets with Head of School and Student Council members to discuss and plan activities.
Masters in Education or Educational Leadership; Experience with Curriculum and Supervision
