Viewpoint School in Calabasas, CA is looking for a seasoned professional to serve as Director of the Viewpoint Fund and serve as a member of the School’s Advancement team. With over 1,200 students and 325 faculty and staff from across the Los Angeles metropolitan area, Viewpoint is a vibrant community of teachers and learners from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. Last year the Viewpoint Fund raised almost $2.4 million from parents, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents and organizations to support projects and initiatives that enhance and enrich the school’s highly personalized, challenging and engaging student experience. The Director of the Viewpoint Fund develops and implements strategies to educate the school community about the Viewpoint Fund and the help strengthen the culture of philanthropy. The Director manages a complex calendar for the Viewpoint Fund and prepares highly segmented appeals and communications through multiple channels. The Director works with Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees and 75 to 80 Viewpoint Fund volunteers in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding gifts to the Fund. The Director manages events to thank and recognize Viewpoint Fund donors and volunteers, oversees the Report on Philanthropy and manages other advancement projects assigned by the Assistant Head of School for Advancement.
Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Advancement, the Director of the Viewpoint Fund collaborates closely with other members of the Advancement team and others throughout the school to ensure the successful attainment of annual giving goals and objectives. As a member of the Advancement Team, the Director of the Viewpoint Fund attends and supports Advancement events as well as being engaged in the life of the school. This person is expected to stay current on annual giving best practices and will serve as the subject matter expert on the team.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 to 7 years experience in fundraising, including a track record of achieving ambitious annual fund goals. S/he will be a high energy, people person who enjoys working with volunteers and understands how to inspire them in fulfilling their responsibilities. S/he will have outstanding communications and marketing skills. S/he will be a team player who works collaboratively with colleagues in advancing the mission of the School. S/he will be a strategic thinker, creative and results oriented. The successful candidate will have exceptional knowledge and experience using technology and complex databases including MS Office Suite, Raiser’s Edge or equivalent software, web-based software, and have a willingness to learn new systems and techniques. About Viewpoint School
A member of the California and National Associations of Independent Schools, Viewpoint School enrolls 1,200 boys and girls in Kindergarten through Twelfth Grades, on 40 acres in suburban Los Angeles. In September 2011, the School completed construction of its final phase of the $57 million dollar Master Plan, and opened a 75,000 square foot Upper School academic building and gymnasium. Recently the School opened a new Primary School building for Grades K-2 with an innovation space and library serving students in Grades K-5. The School graduates approximately 120 seniors every year.
