Riverdale Country School is seeking a full time Technical Director and Technical Theater Instructor from September 17 - December 10, 2018 to fill in for a faculty member on leave. This time frame includes two weeks of transition time to get to know the students and space, as well as to strategize and familiarize themselves with the theater program and the school more broadly prior to the start of the departing teacher’s leave on October 5.
Responsibilities include guiding and instructing three levels of high school technical theater students throughout the build and run of two school productions, which is integrated into the daily class curriculum, as well as some after-school work calls and some weekends. This position requires a strong skill set in carpentry, scenic painting, fire safety, as well as general understanding of theater electrics and audio systems. While the position is obviously temporary, it would be excellent experience for someone considering a career in independent schools.
