The Colorado Springs School (CSS) is a college preparatory, day and international school serving students from preschool through high school. The School is experiencing growth and demand among families with a specific interest in its elementary school program. As a result, the School is currently seeking an experienced kindergarten teacher who is ready to provide daily instruction, supervision and support in language arts.
The individual selected for this role will report directly to the Director of the Children’s School and will fulfill all duties that will include, but are not limited to:
Roles & Responsibilities:
Co-teach with experienced orton-gillingham trained teacher with considerable emphasis on growth and development in language arts
Create and support a positive, mission-appropriate climate suitable for kindergarten students
Apply basic tenets of RULER (social-emotional awareness) and other CSS approved methodologies in the supervision and teaching of children. This may require attending some professional development opportunities in the opening week of school and throughout the school year.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree (preferred) in elementary education from an accredited college or university
2+ years of experience teaching language arts in an early elementary school setting
Strong understanding of children’s academic, social, and emotional development
Team player willing to work collaboratively with families and colleagues
Innovative mindset with strong skills in communication, collaboration, student-centered learning, and technology
Attentive to details/conditions as they pertain to student whereabouts and safety
Enjoy building relationships with students and their families
Provide a warm environment and possess an innate desire to nurture PreK full-day students during the afternoon
