Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for five middle school boys basketball coaches for the winter 2018-2019 season. The season begins Monday, November 5 and concludes in late January or early February 2019. A required preseason coaches meeting will be held on Monday, October 29, 3:30-7:00pm.
Responsibilities The middle school boys basketball coach reports to the boys basketball program head. Coaches will join an athletics program that includes 23 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The boys basketball program generally includes three teams at the Upper School, and Middle School teams at grades 5 through 8. The middle school boys basketball coaches are responsible for the direct management of their assigned team as well as for other specific duties within the program as assigned by the program head.
Complaince with Lakeside School and CYO policies and procedures.
Supervision and instruction of student-athletes during team activities.
Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel.
Attendance at required program and interscholastic athletics program meetings.
Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.
Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.
Compensation We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. Coaching stipends are paid in montly installments during the primary competition seaons. Other benefits include Lakeside Athletics apparel and access to funds for professional development. Requirements and Qualifications Successful candidates must be 19 years of age, possess a valid Washington State driver's license, and be available for all practices and competitions from 3pm daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required. Teams practice twice a week for 75 mintues and have one game per weekend. Experience coaching basketball at the middle or high school level is preferred but not required. Candidates must satisfactorily complete two comprehensive background checks and possess (or obtain) a current First Aid and CPR certification prior to the start of their season.
