The Assistant/Associate Director of Admission serves on the Advancement team (Development, Admissions, Communications, Alumni Relations) and directly reports to the Director of Admission. This person will be responsible for supporting all facets of the admission process in the school’s effort to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse and dynamic student population. The Assistant Director of Admission will work directly with families and schools, manage admission events, run the campus visit and student ambassador programs, conduct student and parent interviews, review applications, and participate in yield activities. The ideal candidate will have previous admission experience in an independent school environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to the mission and standards of the school by recruiting and retaining students who will benefit from the school’s unique culture and contribute to the school community
Participate in conversations about application, admission, and enrollment policies
Support all stages of admission management (from managing prospects to transitioning new families)
Partner with student groups and academic departments
Understand the culture and climate of the school and the broader educational environment
Foster high ethical standards, integrity, and respect for colleagues, alumni, parents, and students throughout the admissions process
Be sensitive to economic, cultural, and other issues present in the enrollment of a diverse student body
Communicate clearly and enthusiastically to all staff and prospective students
A bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred
Experience in education, preferably in admissions
Ability to think critically and creatively
Ability to work collaboratively with other school community members
Flexibility to occasionally work weekends and evenings to run admission events
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Outstanding organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail
Ability to utilize school database, excel and other technology tools to meet professional goals
Excellent analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to organize, prioritize, and successfully execute multiple concurrent tasks; to anticipate needs and act accordingly, and to perform with a high degree of initiative
Experience providing a high level of professional service to internal and external constituents
Ability to handle challenging situations diplomatically and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, volunteers, current and prospective families
Full-time, 12-month position with desired start date of October 2018.
