As a member of the Advancement and Alumni Office team, the Advancement Communication and Retention Specialist plays an integral role in establishing customized communication plans with in three distinct philanthropic segments to improve donor lifetime value. This person will be charged with increasing five-year retention rates and enhancing the donor experience, particularly at the leadership levels, utilizing a variety of technological platforms to help nurture and sustain relationships between the school and its most important stakeholders.
We are looking for a creative and high energy candidate who wants to reshape the way that independent schools look at customer service, retention, and donor acquisition. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to build the premier donor experience program in the country.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize data that will inform new opportunities to increase the return on investment pertaining to donor lifetime value
Build customized communications models to enhance the donor journey with in three distinct philanthropic segments
Identify and define 4-6 key Donor Personas and map specific touch points and communications for each persona journey
Partner with the Director of the SG Fund to create a persona matrix and email workflows as a part of the office’s gift acknowledgment process
Partner with the Director of Advancement, Head of School, and Gift Officers to create customized communications plans for St. George’s most important stakeholders
Partner with the Communications Office to learn and understand the content that is being generated and how that can be leveraged to increase the individual donor experience
Contribute to the financial and impact reporting process for endowed funds, buildings, and capital projects, including preparing and sending reports, analyzing data, responding to donor inquiries, and other reporting projects as identified
Explore new ways to reimagine the solicitation and engagement process for donors and non-donors along with capturing interests
Compile and generate alumni and student stories which can be used for engagements, solicitation, and stewardship
Manage donor stewardship materials and gifts for the department
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years relevant work experience, preferably in the field of development
Creativity, an entrepreneurial spirit, a comfort with technology, and interest in exploring new and innovative technologies to provide continuous improvement in the area of customer/donor experience are key skill sets for this opportunity
Superb written and oral communication skills with demonstrated proofing ability
Creative approach to content creation and curation and an aptitude for visual communication
Adept at interacting with high-level donors, prospects, trustees, and school officials with tact and diplomacy
Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines
Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, make decisions based on established policies and procedures, and determine when others should be involved
Keen sense of discretion, especially when dealing with confidential material.
Experience with email marketing and workflow technology and Salesforce platforms a plus
Experience in or direct understanding of independent schools helpful
