Stone Ridge is seeking a Cross-Divisional Vocal Music Teacher in the Performing Arts Department to begin as soon as possible.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program (Little Hearts). The Cross-Divisional Vocal Music Teacher will teach one section of Upper School vocal ensemble/chorus and three sections of Middle School vocal ensemble/chorus. The Cross-Divisional Vocal Music Teacher will also lead and facilitate the work of the extracurricular, after school Middle School a cappella group, RidgeSound. Finally, although not needed in the 2018-19 academic year, the s/he may be called upon to teach AP Music Theory in the future; as such, experience with music theory would be ideal as well. Working with his/her colleagues in the Performing Arts Department, the Cross-Divisional Vocal Music Teacher supports the coordination of performing arts programming, including the annual all-school Christmas Concert, the annual Spring Festival, theatrical productions, and other occasional performances.

The ideal candidate has experience teaching music, specifically vocal instruction with ensembles, in independent and/or Catholic schools and possesses a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. S/he demonstrates a record of successful teaching, joy in working with girls’ and arts education, and is comfortable teaching within the model of Understanding by Design. S/he demonstrates strong writing and communication skills, a capacity for organization and follow-through, creativity, and flexibility. S/he has a good sense of humor and enthusiasm for the school’s mission and culture.
