Southern Teachers Agency is assisting Episcopal Day School in its search for its next Head of School. Episcopal Day was founded in 1959 and serves approximately 200 students in grades EC-5. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools and a member of the North Carolina Association of Independent Schools and the National Association of Episcopal Schools. Current Head of School, Tom Brereton, is retiring from independent education after a career spanning 44 years. During his six-year tenure at EDS, enrollment grew from 140 students to close to 200 with significant growth in philanthropic support as well.
For over five decades, Episcopal Day School has been committed to the idea that children are the sum of three parts: mind, body, and spirit. The school places students at the center of the educational experience each day and in the midst of a tight-knit school community that has a shared love of learning. EDS inspires students to think boldly, follow their curiosities, communicate their ideas, collaborate with their peers, and be actively engaged in the learning process.
The next Head of School will have teaching and administrative experience preferably at the lower school level in an independent school. He or she should demonstrate a commitment to and love for elementary-aged children, have experience and zest for student recruitment, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and provide a unifying force through an energetic and optimistic personality. Southern Pines is located in the Sandhills area of North Carolina. Incorporated in 1887, residents of Southern Pines represent a diverse population of retirees, active military personnel, working families, and professionals. EDS is located on a four acre campus in downtown Southern Pines. The campus includes 18 classrooms, a lunch room, a library and computer center, a music room, an art room, a Spanish room, a multi-use common room, two playgrounds, a small athletic field, and the historic Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

About Southern Teachers Agency
Southern Teachers Agency is the premiere PK-12 teacher and administrative recruitment service in the South. STA offers free teacher placement for candidates, and we are the only agency that focuses on private & independent school placements in the South. We work with schools from Maryland south to Florida, and as far west as Texas.
STA provides personal service to our candidates and our schools. Each candidate is treated as an individual with unique talents and with unique search parameters. Schools appreciate our reputation for knowing and honestly assessing our candidates. They know that we send them the most viable candidates--otherwise, they would not hire them.
As a result, we have placed more teachers, coaches, and school administrators in the South than any other agency.
Founded in 1902, STA is the oldest independent school placement service in America.
When only the best will do, come to STA!
