Episcopal High School is seeking a Major Gifts Officer (MGO) to join a creative, dynamic and collaborative advancement team as the School prepares to embark on the most ambitious capital campaign in its history. EHS will complete a campaign study in November and immediately begin soliciting commitments in the leadership phase of a comprehensive campaign to support the innovative teaching, leadership and character development, and residential life initiatives identified through a strategic planning process.
Operating as a member of the Campaign and Leadership Giving Team and collaborating with members of the Annual Giving and Special Programs team, the MGO engages with and solicits key prospects as assigned with emphasis on campaign giving and high end annual fund giving. Key areas of responsibility include:
Manages a portfolio of 125 prospects for leadership level annual fund and capital campaign gifts with the following monthly targets:
Identifies new prospects for major capital gift and planned gift solicitation;
Creates strategy to upgrade donors to and within leadership giving levels;
Leads reunion giving strategy and implementation;
Acts as liaison to two reunion gift committees annually; and
Staffs key advancement events such as regional receptions, Spirit Weekend, Reunion Weekend.
Summary of Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of professional experience, preferably in non-profit/educational fundraising;
Experience directly soliciting high end annual fund gifts or major campaign commitments;
Exceptional interpersonal/relationship building skills;
Strong written, verbal, and listening skills;
Attention to detail and organizational skills;
Personal belief in the mission of independent boarding schools;
Desire to join a high-functioning and collegial team; and
Willingness to travel an average of 3-4 times per month.
