The NMH Advancement Office is looking for a highly motivated and experienced development professional. Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the Senior Major Gifts Officer will serve a critical fundraising role in securing philanthropic revenue for NMH and expanding donor support. This position will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of current and prospective alumni and parent donors; creating strategic action plans for top prospects with the intent of deepening relationships on behalf of the School, leading to increased comprehensive giving including annual, capital, and deferred gifts. This position requires decisiveness and judgment, discretion and professionalism in dealing with sensitive and confidential information, and excellent goal and task management.
The successful applicant will have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher and at least 8 years of fundraising experience, including experience relevant to securing major gifts which can include frontline fundraising, financial advising and estate planning; knowledge of contemporary philanthropy and the vehicles available to individuals to achieve their philanthropic goals preferred. Candidates must have outstanding organizational, technical, oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google products preferred and experience with Raiser’s Edge or comparable fundraising software is highly desired. Candidates should be active listeners who are curious, decisive, and able to go beyond routine questions to gain in-depth understanding of needs and projects. The ideal candidate must be organized, highly detail-oriented, able to manage concurrent projects, and able to build organizational and cross-functional awareness. Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently. Some weekend and evening work required, as well as a willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Valid driver’s license required.
