Under the supervision of the Lower School Principal, the Early Childhood Teacher will support the planning and operations of the Early Childhood Program for the students in their first year (age 3) including scheduling, communication with parents, evaluation of students as well as executing developmentally appropriate, 21st-century skills-based curriculum. The teacher will also implement and coordinate special projects as directed by the Early Childhood Director.
A successful candidate will support the school’s behavior management system and plan for the social-emotional growth of the students. He/she will act as a partner with the other ECH teachers and parents to promote and develop the social, academic and emotional development of the young children.
In addition, the teacher will
Enhance and further develop a multicultural curriculum
Support and provide daily instruction
Support the development of student goals
Provide feedback and write student progress reports
Collaborate with the lower school faculty and principal to ensure consistent and quality services are provided to all
Participate in the Early Childhood teachers meetings
Work closely with admissions and participate in procedures to guide student admissions and retention
Guide student transition into elementary school
Be aware of current early childhood research through professional periodicals, professional development, and participation in conferences
A successful candidate will have a BA degree with an emphasis in early childhood development or early childhood education.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
A demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member of a team.
