The Kindergarten Assistant is responsible for assisting with the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the Lead Kindergarten Teacher. This may include instructing children in small and large groups, working one-on-one with students, helping with general housekeeping tasks, maintaining classroom materials, assisting with classroom management, and other duties as assigned. The Kindergarten assistant must promote high expectations, demonstrate a caring attitude, and help to establish an environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic development in students. The kindergarten assistant must be willing to integrate the Quaker testimonies of peace, simplicity, integrity, equality, community and stewardship into the curriculum and during all interactions with students and community members.
BA or BS in Elementary Education, or a related field
The ability to establish cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and parents
Strong organizational skills
A comfort and excitement about working with children from diverse backgrounds
A high level of interest in collaboration
