The GCDS Co-Teacher program employs 20 college graduates in a one- or two-year placement, facilitating entry into the elementary and early childhood teaching profession. The program offers opportunities to explore all aspects of an elementary classroom, while teaching under the mentorship of a lead teacher and enjoying the benefits of participation in a vibrant cohort.
In addition to placement in a nursery through grade 3 classroom, co-teachers gain broad professional experience working with multiple age groups as responsibilities include coaching athletic teams in grades 6–9 or teaching in the after-school enrichment program, grades 1–3.
Classroom experience is supplemented with a professional development program featuring noted guest speakers and a seminar series.
Greenwich, CT, is within easy commuting distance to numerous graduate programs and New York City.
The Co-Teacher Program compensation package includes:
Housing on campus or nearby
Annual stipend of $27,000 in the first year of the program, $28,500 in the second year
Full medical and dental benefits
Up to $5,000 annual tuition assistance for graduate school

About The Greenwich Country Day School
Greenwich Country Day School is an independent, co-educational day school with current enrollment of 900 students in grades N-9 and a faculty and staff of over 200. As of September 2019, GCDS will expand to include a high school program (GCDHS) for grades 9-12, resulting in a projected overall school enrollment of up to 1200. The new high school will be located on a separate campus, less than two miles from our existing property.
