Trinity School, located in the oil and gas mecca of Midland, Texas, has announced its search for a Head of Preschool and Lower School. Founded in 1958 as an Episcopal day school, today Trinity School is an independent, co-educational, college-preparatory school with a total enrollment of approximately 625 students in preschool through grade 12. Now beginning its 60th year of serving families in Midland-Odessa, Trinity School is known for excellence in education with its small classes, personal attention and rich opportunities in academics, the arts, and athletics. Rooted in the Episcopal tradition, Chapel is central to the life of the Trinity community. The School is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS), with membership in a number of other professional organizations including the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS), and Independent Curriculum Group (ICG).
Reporting to the Head of School, the Preschool and Lower School Head leads these two divisions in providing a nurturing and developmentally appropriate learning environment for some 300 children. S/he oversees the development of all student curricula, programs, and activities; is responsible for teacher recruitment, evaluation, and retainment; and builds strong parent relationships through meaningful communication and parent education programs. In coordination with the other division heads, the Preschool and Lower School Head is responsible for all scheduling in these two divisions. The Head of Preschool and Lower School serves as a member of Trinity School’s Administrative Leadership Team as well as the Academic Affairs Committee.
Successful administrative experience, passion for and deep knowledge of educating young children, strong management and organizational skills, superior skills in communication, inclusive decision-making ability, and a warm, collaborative demeanor to build rapport and establish credibility are key for the new Preschool and Lower School Head. It is also essential that s/he possess a sound and forward-thinking vision for educating young children.
