The Head of Middle School is a member of Sycamore’s Administrative Leadership Team and reports to the Head of School. The Head of Middle School is the instructional leader of that division and oversees daily instruction, extracurricular activities, and the long-term visionary and strategic development of the program. Specific areas of responsibility include: support of Sycamore School and its leadership; making hiring recommendations to the Head; providing professional resources and mentorship for faculty; scheduling; work on the Admissions Committee; setting and enforcement of academic and behavioral standards for students; development and oversight of the Middle School budget; development of operating policies and plans for Middle School; and serving as the Sycamore School Middle School spokesperson to visitors, prospective parents, and other professionals.
A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Training and/or experience in independent schools, gifted education, Differentiated Instruction, and leadership will all be valuable.
