Ransom Everglades, a coeducational college preparatory school in Coconut Grove, Fla., is seeking an Associate Director of College Counseling. This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced, team-oriented and motivated candidate to join a collegial office dedicated to working with students and parents from a vibrant and diverse community navigate the college process.
The ideal candidate will enjoy engaging with students and parents; display exemplary organizational and communications skills; and show resourcefulness, flexibility, resilience and good humor. A deep knowledge of the college admissions process and strong writing skills are essential. The position requires at least five and preferably 7 or more years of experience in a high school college counseling or college admissions office. A BA in an academic field is required; a Master’s is preferred.
The Associate Director reports to the Director of College Counseling and advises 40-45 seniors in the college search and application process, advocating for them in person, in writing and by phone. Other responsibilities include writing comprehensive recommendation letters; ensuring on-time and thorough preparation and submission of application materials; designing and leading appropriate and relevant educational programs; and counseling and supporting students and their families through the process while maintaining confidentiality. Additionally, 40-45 juniors begin the process with their counselor in the spring semester of the junior year.
Candidates should be adept with Naviance (or similar college counseling platform), the Google Suite of applications, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and Excel), social media, and data collection, analyses, reporting, and visualization.
