Full-time vocal music director/teacher for choirs and specialty ensembles for grades 7 through 12. This position is responsible for building upon and growing an established choral program at Colorado Academy.
Beginning in August 2019
Reports to the Director of Arts
Instructs middle school and upper school students in developing knowledge and skills in a variety of choral music experiences and enables students to develop an appreciation for vocal music.
Directs a variety of choral groups including a middle school choir, an upper school choir, and possibly a women’s choir and men’s choir.
Willingness to explore and implement special interest groups such as, but not limited to, vocal jazz, show choir, madrigals, etc. according to candidate’s expertise.
Prepares individual students for regional and all-state honors events and for college scholarship auditions.
Uses a variety of instructional techniques and musical repertoire appropriate for the ages and skill level of students.
Leads well-organized and timely rehearsals with clear goals and outcomes.
Plans, rehearses, and directs students in vocal concerts for the school and community. This includes evening and weekend performances.
Maintains discipline, realistic rules of conduct, and a suitable learning environment
Evaluates student progress and performance in music and prepares grade reports as required by the school.
Maintains consistent and clear communications with students, families and colleagues.
Maintains an organized and workable inventory of all music and equipment related to the choral program.
Memberships and involvement in ACDA and related organizations highly encouraged.
A Bachelor's degree is required plus experience teaching vocal music in a school setting.
