Reporting to the Director of Student Service Operations and responsible for day to day coordination of activities and services of the Clothing/Laundry Department, this position exists to extend the reach of leadership on a daily basis in this area of the College. This position primarily conducts the daily management of the Clothing/laundry department while maintaining consistent processes for intake, laundering, inventory control, and distribution of clothing, bed linens for students and of table linens for campus events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise work of laundry workers, including approval of timesheets for payroll.
Reviewing processes for optimal efficiency in providing customer service to students and staff in the laundry department.
Train new employees.
Evaluate and review job performance and discipline when necessary after consultation with Director of Student Service Operations.
Supervise periodic clothing and laundry items inventory.
Assess condition of clothing for periodic purging of items that have experienced excessive wear.
Collaborate and communicate with the Office of the President with regard to event management that requires laundry support.
Requisition needed supplies and equipment for student clothing, bed linens, bath linens and table linens for campus events.
Develop and maintain preventative maintenance program for laundry equipment.
Compile and interpret reports on a periodic basis to improve the operation of both the laundrydepartment.
Perform related work as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree and a least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
2 to 4 years of supervisory experience
Strong communication and organizational skills
Superior work ethic
Intermediate level computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office and other programs
Ability to work in a team environment, to work independently when appropriate, and to take initiative
Other desirable qualifications:
Previous experience with a unionized work force
Knowledge of the laundry/cleaning industry
Previous work at a school or college
