Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced substitute Lower and Intermediate School Learning Resource Teacher to cover a leave of absence, working in classroom, small group, and one-on-one settings. The Learning Resources Program aims to support students with learning differences through mainstream classroom environments. The substitute teacher will coordinate with many different classroom teachers in order to support students and communicate, on an ongoing basis, student growth and progress with parents, teachers, and Lower and Intermediate School administrators.

Bachelors degree in Learning Disabilities; Masters preferred
Background in learning disabilities and/or special education
Possess an understanding of individual needs of students and the ability to work well with colleagues to modify and adapt instruction for all learners
Experience in teaching early reading instruction with knowledge of phonological awareness skills and phonics instruction
Experience teaching and scaffolding comprehension skills for students in 1st through 4th grades
Experience teaching written language and supporting math instruction for students in 1st through 4th grades
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to summarize data from diagnostics and to clearly identify and describe cognitive areas that need support
Experience in and a commitment to developing one’s own cultural competency and seeking, continually, greater levels of diversity, equity and inclusion in practices and in curricula
Empathetic, sound judgment, emotional maturity and a sense of humor
