Charlotte Latin School is seeking a seasoned Lower School educator to serve in the role of Assistant Head. This role works closely with the Lower School Head on all operations pertaining to the Lower School, with Lower School Teachers on all aspects of their responsibilities, and with Lower School parents on a variety of matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conference with teachers and provide feedback, especially in the areas of classroom management, best practices, and professional growth. Participate in classroom observations and grade level team meetings.
Support Head of Lower School with day to day business of running the school including orientation events, field trips, secure substitute teachers, safety and security, and serve as liaison with internal departments to advance the needs of Lower School.
Contributing member of Lower School Leadership Team, Lower School Leads with Honor, Admissions Selection Committee, and Crisis Response Committee
Support students through admissions efforts, class lists, create TK/K Staggered Entry groups, schedule and oversee standardized testing, serve as first point of contact for bus drivers concerning student behavior
Oversees maintenance and care of the Lower School building by working closely with the Lower School administrative assistant
Respond to questions, needs, and concerns of parents and teachers, review report card comments, update information for All School Handbook

Education and Experience:
Advanced degrees in a related field.
Seasoned educator with experience in various academic disciplines at multiple grade levels in Lower School
Or combination of equivalent experience, education, and training.
Demonstrates knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and multi-cultural educational experiences. Master Teacher
Communicates effectively with all constituents
Team-oriented with an attitude of service and ability to motivate others
Values both traditional and progressive instructional methods
Collaborator, compassionate and respectful, patient and relational, intuitive and genuine
Strong written, oral and organizational and interpersonal skills
