March 2018 to June 2018 Maternity Leave Position: 4th-Grade Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher

The 4th-Grade Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher is responsible for the homeroom life of approximately 15 students. He or she is also responsible for planning, implementing, and reviewing the language arts and social studies curricula for their own homeroom and a second group of students. The fourth-grade team, consisting of four teachers, works together closely to establish a sense of community among the entire 4th grade and to collaborate on curriculum development.
Planning lessons and tailoring instruction to meet students’ individual needs, based on classroom scope and sequence
Collaborating closely with grade-level teachers and specialists regarding grade-level curriculum, and student progress and assessments
Coordinating with the school faculty, families, and outside support specialists to best support student growth
Communicating student progress and goals through family conferences, home reports, parent meetings, and emails
A Master’s degree and a minimum of three years’ experience as a Head Teacher
Knowledge of language arts skills and social studies content at the 4th-Grade level
Experience in inquiry-based learning and teaching methodologies
Ability to teach to a range of learning styles and comfortable with differentiated instruction
Excellent written and verbal skills
Passion for the subject matter and for the craft of teaching
Curiosity, collaboration skills, flexibility, and a sense of humor
Interest in social justice, diversity, and inclusivity
Interest in professional growth and school-wide initiatives
Experience and/or interest in using technology to enhance classroom learning
