Sacramento Country Day School, the leading independent school in Sacramento and throughout the region, is seeking a Learning Specialist for the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year (there is potential for this to turn into a permanent position).
Serving 485 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade, Country Day’s mission “inspires intellectual discovery and engages a diverse community to think critically, live creatively, and act compassionately.”
The Learning Specialist position includes the following tasks, among others:
Create and update learning support and behavior plans based on evaluation reports.
Facilitate individual and small group meetings for students.
Support literacy development in the Lower School, content through Middle School, and study and test-taking skills through High School.
Attend Student Support Team and Grade Level Meetings.
Coordinate AIMSweb assessments and MAP assessments.
Meet with parents to discuss learning plans and concerns when needed.
Consult with teachers regarding the scaffolding and modifying curriculum.
Work with teachers to review assessment results and plan interventions as needed.
Act as a case manager for students with learning plans and facilitate meetings between teachers and parents as well as external providers when applicable.
Successful candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, a strong commitment to a PK-12 education and learning support, strong interpersonal, organizational and managerial skills, high energy, flexibility, warmth, sense of humor, and a collaborative team player.
