The John Thomas Dye School (JTD) is an independent, coeducational elementary day school serving students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. Situated atop a wooded canyon on a charming 10-acre campus in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, JTD has offered generations of young people an idyllic environment for learning. The school seeks a Lower School Head to serve as leader of this division for the 190 students in Kindergarten through Grade 3.
JTD offers students a traditional yet dynamic academic experience with an integrated curriculum that incorporates technology and the arts. The hallmark of a John Thomas Dye School education is its community’s commitment to upholding its core values, affectionately known as The 5C’s: Caring, Common Sense, Consideration, Cooperation, and Courtesy. The school enjoys a well-established reputation in Los Angeles for excellence in the preparation of young children for success in secondary school and beyond. Exceptionally well prepared for the next phase in their educational careers, JTD graduates have long been welcomed to Los Angeles’s most selective independent secondary schools.
Under the direction of the Head of School, the Lower School Head works to inspire faculty, build teamwork, and, in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, advance the Lower School curriculum and programs. The Lower School Head supervises the operations of Grades K-3 and confers regularly with the Head of School regarding student progress, faculty/staff communication, budget development, major expenditures, and policy matters.
