JOB GOAL: Provide strong academic and administrative leadership to motivate staff to strive for superior performance so as to provide the best opportunities for student growth and development. Maintain congruency between Rochambeau’s board-approved mission statement and all activities of the primary school.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as an educational leader of the primary school, responsible for its day-to-day operations; direct the activities of the school’s instructional and non-instructional staff in the performance of their duties.
Observe, the development and implementation of curriculum; supervise the teaching process, and review and evaluate academic programs.
Oversee the coordination of co-curricular and extra-curricular activity programs of the school; assist in the planning and the presentation of school assemblies and programs; assist in maintaining a comprehensive calendar of events; keep the entire school community informed of various school programs and activities.
Serve as consultant to teachers in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general school procedures.
Assist in the admission process for interviewing and evaluation of applicants for enrollment, supporting diversity and inclusion.
Coordinate the development and implementation of school discipline standards that is consistent with Rochambeau policy.
Work with teachers and parents, to ensure appropriate programming for all students. Maintain effective communication to keep staff, students and parents properly informed.
Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff. Plan and conduct periodic faculty and staff meetings.
Identify staff training needs; develop and implement school improvement training plan to meet those needs. Develop requests for staffing and resources. Prepare a variety of written reports and correspondence.
Establish and maintain relationships with the Parents’ Association and other community organizations to ensure ongoing, two-way communication and initiate activities which foster productive parent and community involvement.
Serve on Rochambeau task forces and committees.
Maintain commitment to Rochambeau’s vision, mission, values and strategic aims.
Serve as one of the lead spokesperson for Rochambeau.
Provide leadership in establishing and implementing educational goals and objectives for the school and in evaluating the attainment of those goals and objectives. Ensure that Rochambeau policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws are followed. Report and articulate progress and as need be corrective plans to management and as needed the Board of Trustees.
Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
Small teaching workload may be considered.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a Titulaire de l’Education Nationale or a Bachelor’s (Master's preferred) degree from an accredited college or university or have a teaching degree with a minimum of 3 years’ experience of teaching (in relevant group).
Previous experience as a School Director or in a management position preferred
Proven success in orchestrating highly effective strategies, material, and grouping to involve and motivate students.
Ability to enforce high standards for students’ behavior.
Ability to analyze and chart data, draw action and conclusions in order to leverage student growth.
Excellent oral and written communication in French and English.
Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills.
Skills in building an equitable classroom community.
Ability to positively support the school’s mission, policies and practices and work collaboratively in a professional organization.
Maintain confidentiality and security of information.
Hold self and others accountable to accomplish results.
