Provide nursing care for students on both the ES and MS/US campuses according to best practices; utilize the nursing process for both acute and chronic conditions. Recruit and coordinate the scheduling of additional part time and temporary nursing personnel as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
Administers first aid to students and staff for minor injuries as needed.
Monitor compliance and completion of student health forms and document student visits/treatment notes through Magnus Health and other health electronic medical record systems. Maintain these records.
Prepare the Student Confidential Medical Report at the beginning of the school year to share with all pertinent faculty and staff; update report as needed throughout the school year.
Collect and monitor Student Medication Authorization Forms and maintain medication storage in the Nurses’ office. Administer medications to students according to standing orders, and over-the-counter medications as needed.
Collect and maintain student immunization records, ensuring compliance with California Laws for School Entry, and ensuring appropriate exclusion for infectious illnesses.
Compose and update parent letters regarding lice and any communicable diseases.
Collaborate with faculty to plan for field trips, including preparation of first aid bags and medication logs; prepare health alerts as needed.
Provide First Aid and BBP, UAP, Seizure and Diabetic management training to various staff groups.
Provide TB Screenings for all new hires and maintain compliance and records for faculty. Administer yearly flu shots to faculty and staff.
Maintain Epi pen program including purchasing Epi pens, supplying all departments and campus with Epi pens; monitor inventory and expiration dates.
Maintain AED equipment and training on both campuses, monitoring four machines monthly with AED Oversight Company.
Complete student and employee accident reports and follow up as necessary.
Participate in Safety Committee meetings and serve as leader and/or first aid team member during an emergency as necessary.Attend team meetings and communicate with administration and school counselors regarding individual student health-related issues
Staffing – schedule, interview, and approve payroll for part time nurses
Update nurse and substitute nurse manual.
Order supplies for Nurse’s office and first aid boxes for both campuses. Prepare invoices for vendor payment
