Wichita Collegiate School (WCS), a coeducational, college preparatory, independent day school for students in Early Childhood 2-year-olds through Grade 12, seeks a Head of Lower School who will continue the School’s ongoing educational excellence through administrative leadership of faculty and students in Grades 1 through 4. This position reports directly to the Head of School.
Preferred candidates will have a degree in education, school administration or a related field. Previous administrative experience in an independent school environment is desirable. This position requires that the candidate have strong interpersonal and communication skills combined with broad experience in curriculum and pedagogical design. The school seeks a candidate with a demonstrated ability to take principled action to achieve goals, while maintaining cohesive relationships with students, faculty and parents. Collegiate seeks a leader who will personify both its highly personalized family feel and its drive for continued excellence in all phases of the school.
Lower School (Grades 1-4) programs are designed to develop the potential of each student at his or her specific stage of development. Mastery of basic skills is important and meshes with a love of learning, curiosity, and character education. Technology becomes an important part of the educational efforts in Lower School where Collegiate became the first one-to-one iPad school in the state of Kansas.
